The Happiest Medium review by guest contributor Penny Pollak.

In a time where the world is radically changing its views on our monetary system, and taking a stand on debt and the crimes of the one percent, Aidan Killian’s Take The Red Pill has come to New York at just the right time.  A revolution of ideas is in the air, not just here but through out the whole world.

Fresh from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival Killian, who hails from Dublin Ireland made his American debut in New York City at Horsetrade Theater Group’s UNDER St. Marks theater with his new one man show Take The Red Pill. The name comes from Alice In Wonderland where, by taking the red pill, you will see the truth — which is essentially what this show is all about.

Having been a banker at Bear Stearns for years, Aidan has a unique perspective on debt, money and corruption. “I quit banking in order to save this world through laughter, one endorphin at a time.” Within the first few stories the audience can easily see why he is called the Irish Bill Hicks. Most comedians have a tendency to present the problems of the world without offering any sort of solutions. This is certainly not the case for Killian. He cleverly and passionately takes us through his experiences with love, banking, debt, truth, beauty and consciousness keeping this sold out house laughing throughout the entire hour.

Killian says a lot using very few words. Dissecting the language that we use and the language of courts and the financial industry he asks us to question the world around us and to believe that we have the power to change it. This is a very powerful message that he delivers with a charming and humble sense of humor.

It is a rare ability for a comedian to not just connect with their audience but also be able to empower them.

With a commanding stage presence and many brave enlightening ideas Killian delivers a hilarious hour bringing it all together in the end leaving us with hope and a song.

Take The Red Pill was a one night only stop, kicking off its European tour, but will hopefully be back for this years FRIGID Festival in February.

We’ll be sure to keep you posted!
